That was a Xana-don’t.

Xanadu has really taken over my life this week, not only did Aunt Dee have the soundtrack to Xanadu AND the DVD there is a club not far from The Boyfriend’s that’s called Xanadu.

But what is really important is this guy we saw in downtown Seattle today (while I was carrying my new Beatles record by the way!)  We got a short video of him, and by the way, YES, that IS  a possum on his shoulder and some sort of fur hat.

The Fifth Dimension – Reflections

The Carpenters – Close to you

The Chiffons – One Fine Day

The Righteous Brothers – You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’

and of course my new love…

The Beatles – Beatles ’65

“Sorry Sweetie! I wanted to buy you the salmon but it was too expensive so I got you the goldfish instead!”

Pretty much all week we’ve been saying things like “I need to update my blog” or “you should update FTHW” (because in Seattle we talk all in internet lingo.) So, you’re not getting a real update because I’m going to see Casablanca in a while, but, here’s a little teaser of .. oh .. one thing we’ve done.

We made some Seattle cookies, but the boyfriend was all like “I NEED TO PHOTOSHOP THESE PICTURES THE LIGHTING IS BAD” so I didn’t want to post a bunch of them. I would like to point out I cleaned the granite counter tops before COMPLETELY DEFILING THEM WITH FLOUR AND COOKIE DOUGH
Tomorrow I’m spending the day and evening with my Aunt Dee for a dual birthday fest, we’re going to this place.

Speaking of great places to eat, I was completely craving fruit waffles the other morning (which happens a lot, just ask my family, by that I mean the sister) so I searched up some breakfast places here in Lynnwood with fruit waffles. Now, not to be picky, but I want my fruit waffles with pie filling on top, not fresh fruit, because I mean cmon, that’s gross. So we discovered Family Pancake House. It was delicious. I have some pictures from there too, but those are on my phone.

Alright, to finish up this lengthy update of a post I’m going to tell you what I’ve spent most of my time and money on since I’ve been here…Records. This week I have bought/received…

The Elected – Sun, Sun, Sun

The Elected – Me First

Elvis – Moody Blue (on blue vinyl, this is for The Boyfriend’s mom for a birthday gift, we all know how much I hate Elvis)

Peter Gabriel – In Your Eyes from Say Anything (it’s a 45)

Bob Dylan – Greatest Hits (yeah, I already own this, but this copy is in much better shape)

Country’s Greatest Love Songs – it has a ton of Johnny Cash on it, including my favorite song ever If I were a carpenter by Johnny Cash/June Carter

Nat King Cole – Unforgettable

Herman’s Hermits – The Best of

Herman’s Hermits – On Tour

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Willy and the Poorboys

John Lennon – Walls and Bridges

Billy Joel – The Stranger

Simon and Garfunkle – The Concert in Central Park

Don’t worry Amelia, I saved a little money to buy you some presents too!

IT’S MY BIRFDAY!

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

I wanted to post a few pictures of my birthday party, it was basically amazing.

The whole gang at BWW, these people rule.

It’s a horrible picture of me, but my best friend looks totally hot!

And then Amelia totally let Mark hold her AND laid her head down on his shoulder, she NEVER does this. She hates people and never wants to rest when there are people around so this was a true miracle. AWWW

I’m headed off to Seattle on Thursday to spend a little over a week, I’m very excited, but there’ll probably be some bloggin’ while I’m gone.

It’s cupcake day!

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

I made a lot of cupcakes today. With the help of my niece who is here for the afternoon. Heres our adventures, mostly pictures, few words…

Red Velvet Cupcakes!

All baked, some frosted, some with a start to the decoration.

all decorated!

A close up

Amelia enjoying the cupcake she decorated

We got “pretty for the party” before she decided to eat her cupcake.

And finally, a special someone who can’t make it to my party tonight that I’m flying a long ways to see on Thursday is getting a cupcake too.

The birth of the Ugly Cat.

Friday, March 7th, 2008

So I kind of died. Last Friday I drove to my sister’s house where I promptly took my temperature (because my body was screaming YOU’RE HOT! YOU’RE COLD! YOU’RE GOING TO DIE!) which showed 102.1 or something similiar. But I did get the chance to give my niece all those things I’d been knitting for her. She promptly fell in love with the cat, which she named Ugly Cat. She swung it around by it’s arms and played Ashies (thats Ring Around the Rosie in toddlerspeak) and wore her hat, then put the hat on Ugly Cat. Then to seal the deal she threw a 45 minute fit that night when she got ready for bed because UGLY CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTT was in the car with her mom. She finally fell asleep when Rebecca got home and handed her Ugly Cat. I’d say it was good. Here’s some blurry camera phone pictures of her enjoying it.

Taking pictures of Amelia is an adventure anymore as she spends most of her time screaming NOOOOO! and running away. Trust me, she does adorable things that you’ll never see unless you spend time with her.

This sort of loving on Ugly Cat may also lead to the death of Ugly Cat. We’ll see.
